Scientific Sessions

The official opening of the symposium will be held in the Mihail Kogălniceanu Conference Room of the Tulcea County Council. The scientific sessions will take place in two conference rooms of Hotel Delta, situated on the Danube embankment.
The main theme of the symposium is „Celebrating Geological Heritage and Geoparks”
The conference themes focus on:
- Geoheritage management and conservation in geoparks
- Geoheritage and mining heritage: quarries, mines, exploration works
- Geoheritage and cultural heritage
- Movable geoheritage and museums
- Geoconservation for science, education and tourism

The scientific program will include three days of oral presentations and poster sessions, with a half-day field trip to visit Agighiol geological reserve and cultural objectives.
The Symposium will feature several invited lectures. One of them will be given by Prof. Iuliana Lazăr of the University of Bucharest, on the topic of the Deşli Caira geosite, the Romanian proposal for the Global Boundary Stratotype Section and Point (GSSP) of the base of the Anisian stage. Iuliana is working with a team of international researchers to continue the work of professor Eugen Grădinaru on the Romanian proposal for this GSSP.
